Kicking off National Apprenticeship Week

As it’s National Apprenticeship Week, we wanted to share inspiring stories of our apprentices, and the impact they have within PWA.

Jamie-lee Emmott joined us in July 2019 as a Higher Level Apprentice after completing a BTEC Level 3 in engineering at South Craven Sixth Form and now works as an apprentice within our civil engineering department.

After hearing about our Apprenticeship opportunities from faculty at sixth-form and successfully completing the recruitment process, Jamie was enrolled on a Higher Level Apprenticeship; studying one day a week at Leeds College of Building whilst working full time at PWA.

Over the last eight months Jamie has developed a range of new skills whilst working on a variety of projects. Recently producing earthwork analysis, external works layouts and schematic drainage designs to support a planning application for Harrison Drive, a 79 plot residential development, a great achievement – demonstrating the value and contribution that apprentices bring to our team from day one.

We are really impressed with Jamie’s progress so far and exited to see how she will continue continue to develop whilst working towards the completion of her HLA and TMICE.
