Work as the Geo-Environmental Engineer within the Geo Team of Consulting Engineers at PWA Geo-Environmental Ltd. 

Responsible for technical input to Phase I and Phase II investigations and remediation where this applies to geotechnical works. This includes provision of proposals, project planning management of resources (office or site based) and subcontractors, supervision of fieldwork, completion of appropriate scheduling of laboratory testing, site monitoring, data assessment, reporting and financial performance.

  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years of geo-Environmental work within a consultancy background.
  • An effective track record of managing the practical, technical and financial aspects of developing proposals for the completion of Phase I & Phase II assessments, together with remediation schemes and other geo-environmental related tasks.
  • Suitable experience of site supervision of investigation works to either complete or direct others in the completion of.
  • Ability to describe soils in accordance with BS5930 and/or factual by checking reports produced by others.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical laboratory testing methods, scheduling, assessing and their interpretation.
  • Knowledge of the design of conceptual site models to understand geological conditions for development proposals.
  • Production of structured factual and interpretative reports assimilating desk study, site information and laboratory test results into ground and design models.
  • Ability to assess data sets and interpret data using current applicable standards and guidance.
  • Knowledge of the nature and types of geotechnical structures, to include foundations, earthworks, retaining structures and slopes.
  • An effective track record in negotiations with regulatory authorities and development of relations with clients.

Civil Engineer

We are now seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our established and friendly team.

Your day to day role will be to liaise with clients to achieve their business goals by providing technical solutions and advice. Providing support to Project Managers and Team Leaders by providing your technical expertise in all aspects of civil engineering on construction projects such as: drainage including SuDS, cut and fill, pavement design, external levels, flood risk assessments and knowledge of highway design elements (Section 38/104 and 278 Agreements) ensuring that projects are delivered to cost, schedule, technical and quality standards to meet both the clients and PWA expectations.

You will have an in-depth understanding of design in both public and private roads, working with local highway authorities, developers and construction consultants. Leading edge technology plays a key role in our work i.e. Civil 3D, Microdrainage, Windes. You are expected to maintain an IPD/CPD record with the intention of further developing and enhancing your skill set for the benefit of both you as an individual and PWA.  

The successful applicant will be required to progress various section agreements in accordance with the Highways Act & Water Industry Act, including but not limited to;
S38, S278, S184, S50, S104, S98, S102, S115.
