Description: During the past year we have reviewed construction options for this steeply sloping site, with large depths of made ground. Designs are now underway by Paul Waite Associates for a mixture of steel framed structures, timber structures and steel/timber hybrids. The development consists of blocks of multi-storey structures, anything from 4 storey to 8 storey. One block is to form private apartments whilst the other 3 blocks are for student accommodation. Foundations will generally consist of piling, with some buildings straddling retaining walls. Other works include the full drainage design with attenuation as necessary along with highway and site retaining walls. The total accommodation is in the region of 417 beds for student accommodation and all ancillary accommodation/facilities and 32 private apartments.
