Description: The ACE Centre is going to be a very modern high quality building. The building will comprise 4 floors totalling 51,000 sq ft. Externally, it will compliment the new Number One Market Street, using matching stonework and detailing, with a superb entrance feature. On the ground floor there will be a reception area, recording studio, art project room, cafe/bar leading out on to a court yard, and a 200 seat performance arena for cinema/theatre and live music. The first floor will accommodate two function rooms capable of seating 300 people, meeting rooms and art display space. The upper floors business units will have superb views over Pendle and the surrounding countryside.
Working with the design team, we were responsible for procuring the site investigation and discharging all the environmental conditions. Our principal role was the design of the foundations and structural building fabric and associated civil design. In addition, we prepared a steel grid layout for a specialist contractor to design and detail the steel frame. The major challenge on this project was isolating parts of the structure to stop sound transmission from the various building activities affecting each other.
